Current status of this matter:
The parties in Vargas v. Ford Motor Company, C.D. Cal. Case No. 2:12-cv-08388-AB-FFM, have reached a nationwide settlement which was granted preliminary approval by the Court on April 25, 2017.

What is a class action lawsuit?

Who is included in these settlements?
Generally, you may be included in one or more of the Settlement Classes if, at any time from 1996 to 2016, you: (1) bought or leased a qualifying new vehicle in the U.S. (not for resale), or (2) paid to replace one or more of the qualifying vehicle parts. In general, qualifying vehicles include four-wheeled passenger automobiles, cars, light trucks, pickup trucks, crossovers, vans, mini-vans, and sport utility vehicles.
How much money can I get?
You may obtain cash payments for Software Flashes if you made three (3) or more Service Visits to authorized Ford Dealers where a Software Flash was performed while you owned or leased the Class Vehicle and within seven (7) years or 100,000 from the vehicle’s delivery to the first retail customer, whichever comes first. A Software Flash may be a reflash, an update, a reset, a reboot, or a similar type of service performed on your vehicle’s software. Your repair order should indicate whether a Software Flash was performed, identified by one of the following labor codes:
Where can I find the VIN for my vehicle(s)?
A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is an ID that is assigned to every car and is usually 17 characters long. If you still own the car, the easiest way to find your VIN is on the driver’s side interior dashboard. You can also locate it as a sticker on the driver’s side door jamb. If you no longer have the vehicle, check your vehicle’s insurance or title records or contact the dealership where you had purchased the vehicle.
